The goals of the ANE are:

Participation. One focus of ANEs work is to provide support for all those who are hindered from participating in society, whether children, young people or parents, who, for example, are in a difficult social situation or belong to one of many minorities living in Germany. In the future, ANE will work in particular to make children's rights a reality: children’s and young people democratic participation should not just be limited to the family and school but should have a place in society as a whole.

Intercultural perspective. Democratic education includes the intercultural perspective. For many years and in the future as well, ANE will work to foster intercultural skills. One of the most important tasks is finding ways for children and parents in Europe to coexist in peace and with mutual respect and how they can learn from one another.

Forum for parents. The ANE offers parents a forum to participate actively in European society and articulate and represent parent interests either individually or collectively. Parent interests have up to now usually been represented as special interests by initiative groups that have not often been in existence long or are widely fragmented.
Many parents have placed their trust in ANE. This is a key prerequisite for becoming an organization that bundles the interests of parents and acts as a speaker for parents in the public arena in the future. ANE will find new ways of doing this together with many parents and develop new structures in the lobby work for children and parents.

Services for parents. The ANE primarily offers services for parents e.g. media and counselling. We are working to improve our range of services and make them more accessable for parents on a European level. ANEs services are unique. The slogan "With parents - for parents" symbolizes the way services are developed and provided.
