The Intercultural Family Counselling is an information centre (helpdesk) for education and family issues – for all questions and problems concerning education, family, partnership, separation and social integration. Our counselling offers are directed to everyone in Berlin, especially to parents, families, teenagers and young adults from the inner-city district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.

The intercultural approach of the family counselling corresponds to the multicultural structure of the „land“ of Berlin and the increasing demand on interculturally competent counselling.

The Family Counselling’s office consists of a team of multiethnic people with  interdisciplinary backgrounds, offering counseling in German, Turkish, Arabic, English and Spanish.

In addition to personal counselling talks we offer telephone counselling in the above mentioned languages and counselling via e-mail, as well as psycho-therapeutic help for children and teenagers.

According to the respective demand we organise parents’ groups on different issues and parents’ talks and meetings in other institutions. For those working in pedagogical institutions we offer case supervision, especially concerning intercultural questions.

Our counselling offers are free of charge, but we are always grateful for donations.

IFB is a project of ARBEITSKREIS NEUE ERZIEHUNG e. V. and is being supported by the Berlin youth welfare administration and the district administration of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.

In December 2004 the project: „Educational and family counselling with refugee families – a model draft of standards for regular institutions.
This model project is supposed to show how educational and family counselling offices can open up for refugee families. It is being supported by the European refugee fund and terre des homes Germany.
